How billing works

- Is the public Explorer free?
- Yes. Resolving and inspecting identifiers on did.is and through the public evidence API is free and rate-limited. Plans cover private, authenticated usage for your own projects.
- What counts as an operation?
- One completed private resolution through your project API key or console. Each request is settled exactly once with an idempotency key, so retries of the same request are not billed twice.
- What happens when I reach my allowance?
- Requests are refused with an explicit HTTP error until the allowance resets on the 1st of the next month, or until you upgrade. There is no automatic overage and no surprise charge.
- When does a paid plan take effect?
- Only after Stripe confirms the subscription and our server re-reads it. Returning from checkout alone grants nothing, and cancellation keeps access until the paid period ends.
- Can I get a refund?
- Yes. Your first subscription has a 30-day full refund, a renewal you forgot to cancel is refunded if you ask within 7 days, and billing mistakes are always refunded. You can cancel anytime in the console. Details: did.is/legal/refunds.
- Does payment affect verification results?
- Never. Plans change allowances and features, not cryptographic verdicts. A paying and a non-paying caller receive identical evidence for the same identifier.
